10 under 20: My favorite Drugstore beauty products

We all know that it’s easy to run into Ulta because you ran out of foundation, black out, and then get to the counter with $200 dollars worth of makeup products you are convinced you need. Much like Target, I can never go into Ulta or Sephora and come out with only the one item I intended to purchase. I can also never walk out not looking like a clown because I tried on 6 different shades of lipsticks, 4 eyeshadows, and the latest and greatest new bronzer or blush. Anyone else relate? I do not even consider myself a makeup or beauty guru and this place is a serious trap for my bank account. With so many products guaranteed to make you look fabulous, how can a girl resist?

If anyone else has this same problem that I do, I am here to help. While not nearly as glamorous, Walgreens and other drug stores can seriously come in handy when you want to be #flawless on a budget. Here are my ten tried and true drugstore products all for under $20!

Cantu: shea butter leave-in conditioning repair cream. First on the list and probably first in my heart too (only behind my beloved hair rollers). I have been using this stuff since circa 2009 and still love it! For starters, it smells absolutely amazing and like summer in a bottle. You know that delicious coconut smell? Like that x 10. I swim a lot during the summer months and my hair can get very dry and tangly, I put this stuff in after my shower a couple times a week and let it hair dry and it makes it so much softer and easier to tame! I feel like this is sort of a hidden secret because I’ve never met anyone else that uses it, so take this sacred information and go buy yourself some.

Hair Rollers: Another product I have been using basically my whole life that I swear by. All the women in my family use hair rollers and even though it’s not 1950 anymore, I think they are still just as wonderful. I actually don’t even own a straightener or a curling iron, just my trusty rollers. For starters, they take all of 5 minutes to throw in and I love how they give my hair a natural, bouncy curl. I did a whole post on how I use them here if you want to check it out!

Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Spray: While we are on the topic of hair, this is my other favorite go-to product, and it is under $5! If you have some natural wave to your hair, this is the perfect product for you! I dry my hair for a few minutes before using it so it’s not soaking wet, then spray this in, scrunch it and go. It is perfect for achieving that beachy wave look in the summer even if you haven’t set foot on the beach. It also smells great, much like the coconut goodness I described when talking about the Cantu leave in conditioner.

Cerave foaming face wash: This is a relatively new product for me and it has seriously saved my skin! I have always struggled with breakouts and have tried literally a gazillion products out there. Who would have thought that a $11  no-nonsense face wash would be the answer to my skin problems? I have noticed such an improvement in the last three months and now it is all I use on my skin besides my clarisonic a few times a week and…

Cerave Renewing Lotion: I was really nervous about using this lotion because it’s definitely thick and very moisturizing and my skin tends to be oily! I use it morning and night and have had no problems with it causing breakouts and it makes my skin noticeably softer and smoother! I would definitely give this line of products a try if you have similar sounding skin to mine!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara: I actually think this was the very first drugstore mascara I ever owned and in my opinion, it’s still the very best. Mascara is my favorite beauty product so I have tried most every drugstore brand out there and a lot of the higher end kinds as well. I had been using Dior for a while, but when I ran out I switched back to this and my eyelashes looked so much longer and fuller! I get it in the color jet black and usually do two coats!

Physicians Formula Bronzer: I love being out in the sun during the summer, but I am always fearful of my face getting burned so I typically wear large hats and makeup with SPF 50 to avoid this. Sadly, this results in my face always being way lighter than the rest of my body, so bronzer is definitely my BFF. This is hands down my favorite drugstore bronzer and it is super natural looking and doesn’t have that oompa-loompa effect like some cheap bronzers do. Because no one wants to look like they just stuck there face in a bag of cheetos…this bronzer definitely looks way more expensive than its $14 price tag.

NYX liquid suede lipstick: NYX is really the holy grail of drugstore products because they have so many great makeup items for really cheap! Liquid lipstick is all the rage right now and I have to say, I am definitely a fan! This stuff won’t dry out your lips, and it lasts for a long time before having to reapply! If you have tried the Stila liquid lipstick before and liked it then you’ll definitely like this as well!

L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation: I am currently using Estée Lauder Double Wear as my foundation, and I really do love it, but for days when I want a little less coverage and a much faster application process, I use this! It is so easy to apply and always looks very natural and even while still hiding any imperfections you may want covered. It is the only drugstore foundation I trust on my skin because most of them just do not work for me!

Dr. Teals Foaming Bath: In my opinion, the absolute best way to wind down at the end of the day is with a bubble bath and a good book. On average, this is my routine 3 out of 7 nights of the week, and when the weather gets colder, probably even more! I love love taking baths! So obviously I had to include a bath product on my favorites list. I picked this up a few weeks ago and it smells amazing! It is infused with eucalyptus and spearmint and also makes my skin so soft. I am definitely going to stock up on this product so I don’t run out!

So there you have it, my tried and true drugstore favorites! Would love to hear what you love in the comments below!
