A few weeks ago, I was perusing our local Sephora in search of a new mascara, when I realized how ridiculous it was that I was paying $25 dollars for a tiny bottle that would only last me a few weeks. I then decided to make it my mission to find the perfect drugstore mascara, something that was just as good as Benefit or Too Faced, but a fraction of the price. I have been pleasantly surprised with what I have found (and I think you will be too!) so today I am going share with you all my favorite mascaras, all for less than $15! I realize that everyone’s eyelashes are different, so I will tell you the pro’s and con’s of each so you can gauge what will work best for you!
1. First up, Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara. Not going to lie, what drew me to try out this mascara was the adorable leopard print pattern. Good job, Maybelline, you got me. My favorite thing about this mascara was the brush. It is curved, so curls your eyelashes without having to use any sort of eyelash curler. I wore this one for two days and it never smudged once (can I get a hallelujah?!) It didn’t make my eyelashes look quite as long as some of them, but for a whopping $5.95, it’s a winner in my book.
2. Next up is, Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara. I have to say, this may be my favorite mascara out off all the ones I tried. It was the most expensive, but for only $9.99, I am willing to sacrifice the few extra dollars. This mascara made my eyelashes look really long, and that is typically the most important thing to me when it comes to a mascara. Also, the day I wore this mascara my husband told me he thought my eye makeup looked really pretty. And let me tell ya, my husband, duck hunter extraordinaire, does not usually notice what makeup I am or am not wearing. So this was a big deal! haha
3. The third mascara I tried was L’oreal Double Extend. I thought this was a great concept because this mascara has a primer that you put on before so your eyelashes don’t get clumpy! This definitely worked because after priming my eyes (your eyelashes will look very white after you do this, don’t be alarmed!) the mascara went on so smoothly. The only complaint I have about this mascara is that I felt that putting the primer on before the mascara, caused my makeup to smudge a little bit. I am going to try this mascara again, but try to use less primer to see if that helps.
4. Last but not least, I tried on Almay One Coat Triple effect mascara. I have always liked Almay’s beauty products because they are natural and gentle on the skin. This mascara made my eyelashes look full and soft, perfect for every day wear. Plus, I like that it was really easy to take off! Oh and if you are in the market for a new makeup remover, this will take any mascara off, no matter how tricky! It is definitely my favorite.
